I see so many new coaches, healers and similar purpose-based entrepreneurs making the same mistakes. Just the other day, I was talking to a newer therapist/coach who said, “I’m not sure I’ll be able to grow my business because I’m terrified of posting on Instagram!”

My response was,  “Well, you don’t have to grow your business on Instagram…Actually, I think that’s a horrible way to grow your business!”

Which is one of the first mistakes I see people make: They start out and try to do things out of order… and then they try to “wing it” by trying out random strategies on their own.

Okay, that’s two mistakes. But you get the idea.

People think, “Oh, I need a big following… I need to post on Instagram 5x a day,” or, “I need to start a blog,” but in reality, they have no idea what they’re doing!  They’re really just trying to “wing it” based on what they see out there on the internet and social media. Which can work. People have found success by winging it…

But there are easier, faster ways. More on this later.

So if you’re thinking, “I need to grow my business on Instagram! I need a website! I need to start a blog!” ….. you’re probably doing things out of order. (And wasting a bunch of time and money!) What you need is to get down to the business basics, and THEN grow your business.

For example, why grow your Instagram following if you have nothing to sell to them? You don’t need to grow your Instagram; you need a solid offer that they want!

The other big mistake I see all the time is this: It’s believing the thoughts of “I can’t go do what I want until I know everything about it, I know exactly what I’m doing, and I have every single certification there is!”

The other night, I was talking with someone interested in joining my Mastermind who said,  “I’m afraid I can’t coach people on health and confidence because I don’t have enough knowledge or credentials.”

But you know what the funny thing is? She’s been through a year-long health coach training program! I hear it all the time. People think they can’t help others until they know everything there is to know about coaching or healing.

But the truth is counterintuitive. Everyone has it backward.

The truth is you learn the most about coaching by going out and actually coaching.

This whole idea of “I need to know everything before I start coaching,” is wrong. You just need to start coaching. You don’t even need to know your entire program. That’s not your problem. What you need is people to SIGN UP for your program! That’s the bigger problem to solve.

Now, here’s something you probably don’t want to hear, but I’m going to tell you anyway…..

The thing about these mistakes is they come from a deeper place of insecurity, doubt, not feeling good enough, or feeling unworthy…  (“Who am I to help people?”… “Who am I to ask for money?”)

To get over these mistakes, and move forward in your business, you have to take action. To take action, stop waiting for everything to be “perfect.” It’ll never be “perfect.” (Perfection is just an illusion of the mind).

Once you’re taking action, the other huge part is getting your mindset right. You have to let go of being an impostor… or not being good enough… or thinking you’re not qualified… or you need to know “everything.” And that work is deeeeeeep. It takes time and lots of training. It takes re-learning everything you were taught.

But you can make it easier on yourself… How?

Find someone who’s already done what you want to do, and let them guide you. It takes receiving the help guide to you through what feels like a whole paradigm shift. Which, incidentally, is why I launched my 7-week True Path Entrepreneur Intensive Group Program. To give you the step-by-step guidance you need to avoid the mistakes, let go of your perfection and follow your purpose.

The best part??  It’s the most affordable program I’ve ever created.
