We’re on the verge of a psychedelic revolution.
Psychedelic-assisted therapy is going mainstream… Ketamine Assisted Therapy is already widely available. MDMA is projected to be legal in 2023… Psilocybin is being decriminalized left and right – Synthesis Institute is even opening a legal psilocybin retreat center in Oregon… which means there’s a growing demand for Psychedelic Integration Coaches, psychedelic guides, and one-on-one facilitators.
MEDICINE FOR THESE TIMES.
But the problem?
There’s so much demand, but there aren’t enough legal psychedelic therapy training programs to meet the demand. And the few psychedelic therapy training programs are very selective and hard to get into (you can learn more in my interviews with Rick Doblin. He’s the founder and executive director of MAPS – the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies – for my 2019 and 2020 Psychedelics, Sacred Medicines and Purpose summits.
That’s why there is a growing need for “underground” facilitation. Why? Because the legal route tends to be very expensive and not accessible to all. Many people are working with psychedelics and plant medicines on their own or in circles with facilitators.
They’re having these intense peak experiences… but they’re not integrating them into their “normal” lives. This means there is a growing need for help with the integration of the experience into their day-to-day.
This concept of working with psychedelics for improvement and expansion is still really is very new in the grand scheme of things. Even though it’s been around for a while, and it’s in the mainstream media, it hasn’t gotten that much public attention yet.
I believe anyone actively doing work or breaking into the psychedelic space right now is a pioneer. A Psychedelic Pioneer.
Think about it. In the last few years, what we’re seeing is mainstream media primarily focusing on psychedelics for healing anxiety, depression, PTSD, and trauma.
But what about other people turning to psychedelics and plant medicines for other reasons: looking to enhance their life, to find their purpose, expand their impact on earth, find creative solutions to problems, and reach heightened states within relationships using psychedelics? What about people that “function well” but have a desire to go deeper and fuller in life?
Yes, we need skilled people holding space to help heal everything I mentioned above… but we ALSO need people who know how to help their clients BEFORE and AFTER their deep entheogenic work is complete (I know the healing work is never truly finished, but you know what I mean).
My friend co-runs a Psychedelic Integration Coach training programs out there and their current cohort has 130 people in it. And that’s only ONE of the manyIntegration Coach training programs out there – wow! (PS: I highly recommend this Psychedelic Integration Coach training program).
These are some of the areas of opportunity I see for Psychedelic Pioneers wanting to (legally) create a career or business in psychedelics.
I discuss all of this with many of my clients who are in the process of starting and growing their Psychedelic Integration Coaching business.
The reality is that it’s not just the actual psychedelic experience that people need help with. It’s life. It’s literally every waking second. That’s why there’s a demand for help with integration and preparation from someone who truly understands the psychedelic experience.
For example, some need help finding their purpose or calming their anxiety. These are not really bad challenges, like PTSD, but just typical “day-to-day” life struggles.
Maybe they’ve tried traditional talk therapy, or they’ve tried some other route. Maybe anti-depressants or anti-anxiety drugs are not what they need. Maybe their therapist doesn’t understand the path that they’re on.
This is where I believe psychedelic integration coaches, psychedelic-assisted life coaches, psychedelic-experienced coaches, psychedelic-assisted healers, and psychedelic-experienced healers who are familiar with the ins and outs of psychedelics and sacred plant medicines are needed the most.
These people who are already working with the medicines need people who understand the medicine experience. They need someone that can relate and help them through their overall journey. They need someone who can help them in their day-to-day. Someone who UNDERSTANDS them better than someone who doesn’t understand the psychedelic path.
That’s where you come in – if you’re interested in helping people.
People need YOUR Unique Medicine to help them integrate their experiences, make sense of it and make permanent changes in their life.
Here’s how I see this working:
Let’s say your “thing” is breathwork, but your path is the psychedelic path. You stand out by being a breathwork facilitator who also works with psychedelics.
You can just focus on your clients who are on the psychedelic path.
You will naturally attract people who are on the same path as you. It’ll be almost effortless for you to find clients.
Why?
Because you created a niche for yourself. A specific section of the “business ecosystem” that you serve with your unique medicine.
When you look at what’s happening in the world of ketamine clinics, MDMA therapy, the research that’s happening… you can see it has the potential to expand and put out these psychedelic therapy centers all over the country.
There are already psychedelic therapy centers across the world.
So there’s not just a need for therapists. We need everyone. We need healers who understand psychedelics. We need psychedelic integration coaches. We need musicians, artists, and all kinds of somatic therapists and embodiment coaches. We need people who understand how trauma often gets brought to the surface with psychedelics, and how to heal said trauma.
We need all kinds of people who understand psychedelics and sacred medicines to help those who are searching for healing through these medicines.
